My name is Marc and I have come here today to inform about the impact of globalization when doing business with other cultures.

The purpose of this presentation today, is to give you students a better understanding of how to do business in a globalized world and then give you advice on how to do business with India. Please feel free to interrupt me if you have any questions.

As you all are aware of, there are a few classic cross-cultural marketing blunders. Let me give you some examples of companies getting tangled with bad translations of products or bad understanding of culture.

A good example could be back in 2001, where Honda introduced a new car called “Fitta” . This car would be available in Nordic countries, but the problem was just that Fitta was an old word used in vulgar language to refer to the female genital .

Another example is, back in 2002, when Umbro UK, a sports apparel manufacturer, had to call all the new trainers they just had released.
