Indledning
A happy marriage is for some the key to a healthy life and is identified as when your partner listens and understands you.
Getting divorced is very common in today’s society due to the challenge of preserving the same passion and excitement throughout the whole marriage.
It can be challenging to maintain the marriage with desire and enthusiasm when your partner does not contribute to the relationship.
This struggle is portrayed in “Blueberries”, where the reader is a fly on the wall in a married couple’s conversation.

In this short story, there are only two functioning characters, the husband and the wife. There are both unnamed because this short story is meant to be timeless. The author wanted to make a story that all people could associate with no matter the age.
The husband’s outer characterization is styled as wearing a cap which he uses to carry the blueberries. The author describes the husband as a “He was a tall man, slender-limbed but thickening flow through the center of his body.”
While from the wife’s perspective, he is seen as “a silhouette slim as a boy, tender as memory.” The reader is not getting any information about his age or details about his facial features. Therefore the reader can not characterize the man as old or young.
The reader sees the husband as caring and positive that is seen in how he compliments his wife and is always very positive when the wife tries to bring on some negativity. “You're good at it."
