The text “blood” by Urvashi Butalia is about the partition of India. India and Pakistan. She wrote about how the people has had lived through the nightmares of the partition and its consequences on innocent civils. Millions fled the country.
They exchanged their homes and country. More than 10 million crossed the western border to escape the horrors. Many dies from malnutrition, diseases, and slaughter.
The number of deaths varies between 200,000 and 2 million. Many women are also sexually assaulted and raped. About 75.000 is estimated to have been abducted and raped.
Thousands of families are separated from each other, homes are destroyed, and villages is abandoned. Some women were jumping into wells and drowning themselves to avoid getting raped.
Some even beheaded their children to avoid the faith. Urvashi was deeply touched by their stories. Their stories affected her deeply.
