By the way I’m Kristian, I’m a historian and I’ve been studying history and especially American history for many years. As I mentioned, today’s subject will be America and American history. Before I begin, are there any questions?
If we start from the beginning, actually before the beginning of the America we know today. America was a British colony, they as well as the French had power and control of the land.

The frontiers helped sculpt America, many of the modern values that America is based on, are all from the era of the frontiers.
Values like individualism, self-reliance and equality of opportunity. What did the people in the frontiers do? Let me tell you, try to imagine, you are standing a forest you look to the left, more forest, look to the right, more forest.
That’s how it was, but what did they do about it, you might think. They chopped the trees and turned it into villages, this was the beginning of the American infrastructure. And if you don’t know, what that means, go ask your teacher, they will definitely tell you.
Moving up the years, I would like to start by asking, have any of you been to America? It’s quite a culture shock especially coming from Denmark.
America is very different, they’re not very formal, when talking to each other. They have their funny hair and big bellies. Nowadays Americans are known for their fast-food, being overweight and being the definition of every man for himself.
