Everybody needs a mom in their life.” We Can’t Be Good at Everything” is a story written by Emma Sloley in 2019.

The story is 3 and a half pages long. It is told in third-person with an all-seeing perspective. The story is about a son Miles Warden and his feelings for his mother.

The biggest topic in this story is that Miles’s mom Fenella hasn’t been the mom I wanted. There is a big conversation between them in the story, and it gives us a perspective of the situation they are in.

As a reader you get a feeling that this is a topic, they haven’t talked a lot about. By the response that Fenella gives Miles on (Page 3, line 109-111)

“You never seemed to care too much what people thought,” Miles says, not caring in turn how bitter he sounds. “You did your best.” [...]

“Did I?” Fenella says.” The response Fenella gives is a sign that shows us that this isn’t something they are talking a lot about.

After that she starts saying sorry and feeling a little sad, not being there for his son that’s mad at her about her. She response afterward with “If it was my best, it wasn’t very good, was it?
