Indledning
The short story is named “the other couple” and is writing by Sandra Marslund and is published in 2018.
The story is about a couple on a vacation and they are out exploring the place at bars, restaurants and beaches
where the woman who is also the narrator gets eye on another a bit older couple, and everywhere they go the couple keeps showing up. The narrator can’t stop thinking about them and keeps comparing her relationship to them.

It seems like the woman – the narrator has some insecurities and she just wants to be closer to her partner. She starts to imagine this other couple.
We see it when they are at the bar, where the narrator says she is feeling sick of the fish n’ chips but her boyfriend has no clue what she’s talking about “The smell of those chips is making me feel sick.”
“What chips?” you say and knock back the dregs of your pint.” (s. 2, ll. 57-58). But we already get a touch of it in the beginning, where she says to his boyfriend she thought they would be alone and he says they are “”I thought we had the place to ourselves” “we do” you say” (p. 1, ll. 8-9).
And then in the end of the short story it is confirmed when the narrator sees the other woman from the couple out in the ocean and then decides to follow her but her boyfriend comes to rescue her and nobody else is there “….
But there is nothing and no one but you and I ....” (p. 3, ll. 115-118). She might imagine that the couple are them in a few years, the couple illustrate their relationship – she sees themselves in the future.
