Indledning
In this assignment I am to write an analysis about “The Card” Which deals with a boy who has only one memory from his father, a birthday card.
The focus of this assignment will be on Mickey, the narrator. We will also have focus on for example the theme and other things in the text.

The last sentence of the letter Mickey received from his father was “no one’s got your back” and Mickey went on for a long time thinking about that sentence but didnøt really find out wat it means.
Unless ofcourse no one’s got his back. It means that Mickey has to become an independent grown man even tho he’s only ten years old.
It also means that he should learn to provide himself because his dad aint coming back for him and he’ll not be there for Mickey. Mickey have to stand his own ground. Perspectivation to the poem “Absent father”. The poem is really perspective to the text because it is about the same theme and topic.
You can easy compare the two texts by both perspective to be fatherless. How they both are growing up without a father and no masculine role in the family.
The father needs the teach the kids, he needs to be there for them and show them all his love and attention or else the kids will be left pretty much alone learning everything from scratch or by mom doing everything wich will lead to a big pressure on the family. In these texts we truly see that the kids are going through theyre childhood fatherless.
