Uddrag
The main characters of the story are crime scene investigator Grace and an unknown girl.

We are first presented to Grace McColl, whose job is to investigate and search for possible evidence at the place of the crime where the girl was killed.

As the girl is dead it is not possible to gather information about her, but she says “the dead always talk to me in the end” (p.43, ll. 39-40).

Grace was an only child and her mother “lavished praise and nurtured self-confidence in her” (p. 40, l. 39).

In her pre-adolescent, she was desperate to win approbation for her distant father and compensate for his absence.
