Indledning
Stone cold is a Novel from 1993, written by Robert Swindells. The subjects in the book are friendships, family troubles, homelessness, love, deceit, mental illness, and many others.
The novel shows how it is to live as a homeless person and is a good way of showing how it really is. Ginger and Link have a good friendship.
Trouble at home was the reason for Link to move away from home. Link felt betrayed by his family because no one was looking for him, there was no one who cared about if he was alive or dead.
Link fell in love with Gale and felt betrayed when he found out about who she really was. The mental illness that Shelter has is also a very important subject in the book.

Link is presented as a normal kid with a normal background, this is done to show that anyone can become the victim of homelessness. His father ran away with a receptionist when he was at the age of 14.
He is also quite smart since he was able to get 5 GCSEs, even with his distracting situation at home.
His stepfather, Vince, likes to drink and is also aggressive. Vince likes to play cool, but it does not work out for him.
He is part of the reason why Link moved out. Even Carol moved out because of Vince’s behavior at home.
Link does not have a job and has trouble getting paid, as the government does not give money to kids who leave school.
It is also difficult for him to find a job since employers want people with experience and/or a degree.
