It is a truly honor for me to be here and be a part of this debate.
My name is Sebastian Bak and I am a member of the debate team here at Oxford University and I have been excited for this moment.

Actually, there are 14 million people living in poverty which is over a fifth of our population3 . This also corresponds with the results of a recent poll I made before this presentation today. As the major of all of you thought, then we can conclude that there is not enough focus on this issue.
When discussing different possible solutions that could be done, I think it is important to investigate the politics and have it clear understanding of what they think is the best way out of poverty.
Both the right-wing and left-wing have an interesting point of view and how to solve poverty the best and optimal way. As our former president, Theresa May from the conservative party, thinks that the best strategy is to create more jobs.
She believes that the best way is to create more jobs and stimulate the market, and that should help poor people earn money.
On the other hand, we have Jeremy Corbyn, who is the former leader of the Labour Party. He believes that the best way for fighting poverty comes from public spending, and one of the main solutions is an expanded welfare system4 .
