Good evening fellow students. My name is Magnus Larsen, I am a student here at Stanford University studying economics.
I will be talking about McDonald’s current problems and discuss if their turnaround strategy will solve the problems. McDonald’s reported in 2014, that the same-store sales in November fell 4.6 percent in the US.

In the past McDonald‘s struggled to appeal to millennials but by inventing a new system called ‘’Create Your Taste’’, they will strive to make it more convenient for the younger generation.
McDonald’s aim to please all of their customers, and by adding the new system to 2000 of their restaurants in the US, it makes it easier for the employees to prepare the meals and deliver them in an estimated of 5-7 minutes. ‘’At least 40% of all businesses will die in the next 10 years... if they don’t figure out how to change their entire company to accommodate new technologies’’ – John Chambers.
This quote by John is describing perfectly how the world has to adjust to the evolving technology. Digitalization is taking over the world, and the population are seeking for products to make their life easier and simple.
The development of gadgets and other technologies have made us lazy, and there for the tablet system at McDonald’s will catch the millennials attention since they are experts at being lazy and finding the easiest solution.
