Indledning
The short story is told by a first-person narrator, the main character Charlie. The language is very descriptive and mainly focuses on what happens and we do not get insight in Charlie’s thoughts.
Throughout the story Charlie’s father acts out in numerous restaurants and is time after time thrown out leaving Charlie and his father to find a new restaurant.

On the other hand, the story also very clearly takes place in a modern society, with trains and freedom when it comes to divorce, which both where rather new.
The narrator leaves out a lot of information which creates holes in the text and leaves it to the reader to fill out these holes.
Throughout the story Charlie only says something three times. During their restaurant visits Charlie does not have any lines, which makes us pay even more attention to the father’s behaviour.
