Indledning
If an adult would be asked “how many friendships did you lose growing up?”, most would say a lot. Some would even add that they have lost contact with all of their childhood and teenage friends.

Charlotte Bondy composes what a strong and non-changing friendship is like, be-tween the two characters Clara and Mischa, in her short story “Renaude” (2015).

Renaude” is written in a first-person narrator and is told from Clara’s point of view, who is also the protagonist of the story.

Clara is a high school senior living at home with her parents. Already at the beginning of the story, Clara reveals that she has a boyish look, as her mother yells “she’s a girl!” in a clothing store.

Furthermore, Clara states “my parents let [Mischa and I] have sleepovers a lot” , showing that her parents trust her with Mischa, but also indicating that the two of them are just friends.

Micha and Clara occasionally watch porn and are under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

For Clara’s birthday Mitcha takes her to a gay bar, “but when [they] get to the door [she’s] too nervous” to go inside, showing that Clara isn’t ready to explore her sexuality.

However, Mischa says directly to Renaude “well, Clara likes girls” , which tells the reader that Clara is homosexual.
