Good evening, Oxford,
Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is xx, I am a member of the debate team at Oxford University and I’ve been looking forward to this moment we are about to have together.
First, let me thank all of you for allowing me to speak at such an amazing and relevant event, the Oxford Schools Regional Debate Competition. It is truly an honor!

Fourteen million food parcels get distributed in our country every year, the people receiving them aren't just the people out of labor. Some of the men and women who work every day still aren't able to put enough food on the table for them and their children.
Yet the government constantly argues that it is a necessity to cut public spendings. But why is this so important? I can't tell you, well I guess tax cuts. But we will kill the entire country if most of the population dies from starvation.
Access to food is basic, it is a fundamental human right and need therefore the UK has always been dedicated to acknowledging the international treaties regarding the subject.
