She basically starts the speech with mentioning one of her husband's main goals. Which indicates that the USA will be the country with the highest university graduates in the world in 2020.
This main goal has importance because the majority of jobs require some form of higher education, which Michelle Obama also mentions in the speech.
The jobs required makes it harder to find a job, which creates the importance of having a higher education.
Michelle Obama has not always had it easy, she struggled with applying to Princeton college, because her study counselor did not support her, and she would be the only black student at the college.
She was also the first Lady with black skin color, which was not easy, because there were many supporters, but the USA is very racist, so she probably had people being against her.
