“Good girl” is a story about the problems between the Protestants and the Catholics in Northern Ireland. In the story we meet the main character, Chrissy, who is a Catholic school girl.

She is dating a Protestant, Ian, but they have to meet in secret, reasoned the contending between their religions. Eilish and her friends find out that she is seeing Ian and set her up.

They wheedle her into a shed, there they taught her a lesson about being a good girl, but not in a good way.

All the while she is being punish, Ian is safe and sound in his school, instead of meeting with her as agreed. Stunned, uneasy, covered in tar and feather, Chrissy went home.

But not for long, her mom and dad tog her to the hospital, where she sends her little sister Gamma out with a letter to Ian. Unfortunately, the sister returns with the letter and no answer.

In the story we have a personal narrator (personal fortæller), that you see because of the knowledge you have in spied of Chrissy.

And because that we only hear about her thoughts and her feelings, so we see it from her point of view. Chrissy is also spoken about in third person. All this characterise the personal narrator. (Ex. p. 72 l. 31-35)

The story takes place in Northern Ireland. In the beginning off the story we get a flash back to the shed, were Eilish and her friends gives Chrissy a lesson. (p. 68 l. 1-5)

Afterwards we are in her bedroom, with her little sister Gamma. She is getting ready for her date with Ian, they agreed to meet outside the shop window of Wellworth’s Funny.

When Eilish and her friends beat Chrissy up, she ends up in the hospital, here she gets Gamma to give Ian a letter from her.
