The themes in this short story are: expectation vs. realty and the search for your own passion. Today in our modern society we are expected to have a skill or find a calling, which can make ourselves different from others.

However, this perspective has a negative consequence, cause when someone does not find a talent, they feel that they are not worth much. This short story tells a story about a boy, who tries to find his talent, his gift, but instead the search for his gift leaves him with a very traumatic experience.
