When it comes to the themes Django Unchained there are two themes that stand above all of the others, and these correspond a lot with the themes of other pieces of media discussing Black America, namely Freedom and Racism.
From the very first scene of the movie, Django is literally unchained from his shackles, as the title says, and has become a free man in the legal sense.
He is no longer owned by anyone, but he still ends up being Dr. Schultz’ servant in the form of being his employee working of his freedom.
Even though Djangos life becomes a lot better in this stage of his life, like how he is allowed to pick his own clothes, ride a horse
learns to read and much more, he still does not feel free because of Broomhilda is still out there in misery and his life is with her.
