Indledning
Creating a new nation requited two wars to establish the independence and viability of the United States. starting with independence and ending it with a second war against the British between 1812 and 1815.
It was only after the second war, that the parliament fully accepted American independence. It was the Founding Fathers that continued to provide leadership and led the revolution during this entire period.
They held state and local offices and served as presidents from 1789 until 1825. When the leaders passed away, the United States was well established.
The following generation would not focus on wars with Europe anymore, but on Western expansion and further development of an industrial system for the nation.

The Revolution:
One of the most important events in Americas history, if not the most important, was the Revolution.
In 1776, America declared its independence from Britain, but it took many years of fighting to accomplish it.
This was a war that impacted millions of people, globally, and will therefore not ever be forgotten.
After defeating the British empire, and gaining autonomy, America made its own government, created a new nation and turned the world upside down.
British war plans called for dividing the New England colonies from the rest, using armies from Canada and New York City. But the distances were great, and the region was too large to be controlled.
The British also assumed European-style warfare, that gave victory to the country that managed to conquer all the major cities and seaports.
Unfortunately for Britain, 90% of Americans lived in small towns outside the city and the countryside, at this time.
When Britain then decided to occupy New York, Boston and Philadelphia, the Americans had no intention of surrending.
The British then concluded, that invading unfamiliar territory would be the only way of winning.
The Battle of Saratoga in October 1777 was one of the turning points, when the Americans captured most of General Burgoyne’s army and forced him to surrender.
Many French intellectuals liked the idea of the American revolution, as it reminded them of one of their similar projects, “the Enlightenment”.
The victory of the British convinced the French, that the Americans would have no chance of winning alone; that’s when France stepped in, already being Britain's biggest threat and enemy.
In 1776, France was seen as one the most powerful nations in the world; they provided America money, diplomatic support, military advisers, and most important of all, its navy.
The next four years of the war were extremely frustrating for Britain, as they were up against both the Americans and the French.
