The Jim Crow Laws were implemented to ensure the segregation between African Americans and white individuals. A racial caste system which operated primarily, but not exclusively in southern and border states, between 1877 and the mid-1960s.
The laws were a way of life, that were followed by the same belief; that whites were superior to blacks in all ways. For example, where black people not allowed to enter the same toilets, changing rooms etc. As whites.
They were not allowed to call white people by their first names, only “Master”, “Mr.” or “Mrs.”, and giving their hand to a white woman was seen as rape.
