Do we even know how much people are affected by their surroundings, and how the world's environment can change people's behavior and habits?

A major portion of the American population started to lean towards unhealthy spending and eating habits, due to the emotional distress caused by the Covid-19 pandemic:”
There are two different reactions to covid — a small number who are getting health conscious and reacquainting themselves with real food, and a larger group that is going with comfort food that is cheap and shelf-stable,” (p. 1, ll. 18-20).
People no longer have the same opportunities to choose between buying food in person or online, due to Covid-19. Online shopping is the main reason people eat the same food all the time.
It is hard to avoid buying food online when everything is happening online during the pandemic. With the algorithm online it is almost impossible to receive advertisements with healthy food after buying unhealthy food, and vice versa.
This also led to the monthly grocery bill, for the average American household, to rise 30%: “The monthly grocery bill for the average American household spiked to $525 in March, up 30 percent over March 2019…By July it had settled to about $455 a month, still up 10 percent over the same month last year." (p.1, ll.23-28).
