Uddrag
“Irina moves her head, breaking her gaze, attempting to shake the memory away. How odd, she thinks, that those images can exist so vividly in her mind and yet this room in the coffee shop remains unchanged by them; nobody turns to look, to stare at him” .

In this quote, Irina is irritated that those memories can live so normal in her mind, but her ex-boyfriend is not feeling any aftermath off it.

It makes her sad that she has to live with that, knowing that it does not affect him at all. She wants people to know what he has done to her and judge him by it, but that is not how it works.

It has been three years since Irina last saw his ex-boyfriend, and now when she walks out of that café, she is ready to forget him and let go off that chapter.

She needed to see him for this to happen, and now when she has seen him, she is ready to move on.

“She pulls up her hood and then, without turning back to face the room, she opens the door, the fresh scent of rain-on-pavement rising up to greet her” .

She pulls her hood up and leaving the café without looking back. This indicates that she is ready to let go of all the memories and scares that her ex-boyfriend has given her.
