The best way to do that is by using your own experiences, to promote sympathy among the population. “In this country it doesn’t make any difference where you were born. It doesn’t make any difference who your parents were.

It doesn’t make any defiance if, like me, you couldn’t even speech English until you were in your 20s”. (p. 2 ll. 11-13). In this piece, one can argue that ethos has been used. Since Schwarzenegger has a stubborn stance, and has experienced being an immigrant himself, he becomes more credible in his statements.

Even better is when pathos is also used as he speaks to people's emotions. Being an immigrant is a sensitive issue for many. But if one is to believe Schwarzenegger's statement, then it's a breeze to be an immigrant in the United States if one defiantly follows the rules as well as works hard. What this entails, he does not elaborate further.
