In the article “Are Video Games Really Addictive” we get a lot to know about the gaming world and how it is related to addiction.

We are presented with a wide range of opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of playing a lot, and whether one can categorize video game addiction at all as a real addiction.

For some, it must be seen as a problem since the World Health Organization (WHO) added a "gaming disorder" diagnosis to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which means that video game addiction is in the same category as drug problems, and mental illnesses.

Marc Lewis' message is very quickly expressed in the text as his opinion and what he thinks is wrong are quickly presented.

He makes a lot of use of facts and little difficult words which help to support the credibility of what he says because it just expresses that he is in control of what he says, it can e.g. be when he uses the words pathologize and cognitive.

In this way, he also appeals to Ethos by making use of facts and words that have a good connection with the subject.

The argumentation is very good and he thoroughly explains why what he says is as it is and to make his arguments better and clearer he also makes some good comparisons

which are for example made a comparison that there are no negative side effects on health and activity but that researchers are still shouting and warning about the dangers of being too much online

whereas in China people are being called into computer boot camps to spend more time online. It helps to make it clearer what he means and it backs up his argumentation and his whole opinion about this gaming world and its "coziness"

He does not use very many quotes and this also makes what he says sound a lot like it is himself and his opinion and he, therefore, does not need to quote other researchers directly.

There is a seriousness in what he tells us and he really wants to convince us that it is his opinion which is right and therefore Humor and sarcasm is not something that you see very much in the article, he uses the word heroin but it is in a serious sense though it's a bit violent and use when talking video game addiction.

So the reason why humor and sarcasm are not really used is that seriousness is strengthened. When you look at the language it is a very normal style and tone he uses, it is not read as if he is shouting what he wants to say to us it seems very down to earth.
