Indledning
The short story is called “After You, My Dear Alphonse!” and is wrote by Shirley Jackson.
The text is about how especially adults can get in the trap of prejudices and racism. The story is about the two boys Johnny and Boyd, and Johnny’s mother.
Johnny and Boyd are two boys around the same age. Boyd is a little bit smaller than Johnny and then he is an African-American boy.
He lives in a middle class family, and in the text that it is shown when he tells about his parents work, and says that “But I have plenty of clothes, thank you” “and I don’t think my mother knows how to sew very well, and anyway I guess we buy about everything we need”.
