Everyone knows how it feels to suffer, whether it is in silence or out loud. We all suffer in different ways and have different perspectives on what suffering really means.
So, what happens when we suffer on our own and have no one to share our worries and concerns with? Or, when we are afraid to ask for help, because we’re scared to get a cold shoulder?

There are only a few adjectives and a lot of verbs as the verbs create more action in the text and the adjectives create a less expressive text which Hemingway disapproved of.
The story is also a good example of Hemingway’s “iceberg technique” as the reader is given very little information and has to search deeper for the hidden meaning and message in the text in order to understand the actual circumstances.
