Uddrag
The White Cat is a short story by Jim Brannin. The story is about an old lady named Hattie who has a sickness that makes her physically disabled. Hattie lives with her mother and her two grandnieces.

Her family often argues about, who must give her, her food. Hattie is writing a letter about a white cat she has seen while lying in the bed and looking from her window at all the cats, playing and fighting in her garden.

She compares the white cat to her dead husband Johnny, who also had a friendly personality as the white cat has. Hattie isn’t sad about getting old but is irritated by her ability to accomplish things in life.

This short story is written by Jim Brannin and is about the main character Hattie an old lady who is physically disabled and must carry an oxygen supply around on her small walks in her room to breathe “normally”.

Hattie is lonely and feels isolated and the reason for this circumstance is that her husband Johnny is dead.

Hattie now lives with her mother and her two grandnieces which are tired of helping her and doing her laundry and make food for her, an example of this is when her grandnieces and mother are arguing downstairs about who’s turn it is to bring her food.
