Indledning
No one is born hating another person because of the color of their skin, background or religion. Some people are taught to be that way, from their parents, teachers, and the environment we grow up in.
In particular the way our parents raised us have a huge impact in what kind of person we become. The short story, The Newcomer by Andrew Morgan, addresses the problematic of the racisms so many people have to live with every day.

In the story, we meet an eight-year old child, who is the main character. We meet Allison, a ten-year-old girl living on the same block as the main character. We also meet characters such as Allison’s parents and the black girl.
The setting in the story takes place on Prospect street, which is a white lower-middle class. It’s clear to see that not many black people live on the street, and Allison and the main character are the only kids living on the street.
Which makes it harder for them to adjust to the fact that a black girl on their age is moving into the same street.
The main character is eight-years old and live on Prospect street. The main character and Allison were the only kids living on their block, so naturally they became best friends.
