Indledning
A feeling of unity is something that everybody is longing for in some type of way. Everyone wants to be heard and included in the different talks and debates that are going on around them. The result of being disregarded can lead to the feeling of being irrelevant which in some cases make people lack the ability of participation simply because they are tired of not being heard.

This problem Nigel Farage also engages in his speech “The last speech before the Referendum” which he held on the 22nd of June. 2016 just before the EU election.

The writer and speaker of the speech Nigel Farage was in 2016 the leader of the UK Independence Party. He held this speech just 24 hours before the final decision was to be made down at the polling stations on the 23rd of June.

Nigel Farage recognizes himself as the leader of UKIP and is talking a lot about his and the UKIPS accomplishments as seen in the following quote.

“I think for all of us in UKIP, and I certainly include myself in this.” In this passage and throughout the whole speech Far- age is including himself. Mr. Farage’s point of view is quite narrow as he only takes part in one side of the debate and his most used theme of the speech is consequently Independence.

Nigel Farage has a great language and his speech is very convincing. He uses a lot of different appeal forms to connect with the citizens on a more personal level.

He especially employs ethos where he practices his political status to gain some trust from the voters this is made very clear in the following quote.

“And I, I want us to live under British passports under the British flag.”2 In this quotation he uses his own opinion of wanting the UK to be a separate nation and because of his status, he can make other people believe that that is the way to go.

Other than employing the forms of appeal he is also using a lot of political rhetoric where he uses repetition and loaded words. “Vote with your heart, vote with your soul, vote with pride.”3 In this quote Farage is apply- ing both loaded words and repetition to give the text a lot of power and emotion.
