By looking at Nick Laure's argumentation, we can conclude that he uses open argumentation as he directly goes in and touches on the subject. Nick Laure identifies those he does not share an attitude with as "you" which helps to signal that he does not hide his point of view.

As the quote points out, Nick's intention is to tell those who are the recipients of the article that they value their gun rights higher than innocent human lives.
You already get the feeling that he is trying to convince them that he is right. By putting the gun law so much at the forefront, allows him to express his views the way he does
