One of the biggest themes in the text Selfies, is that we all are becoming more and more addicted to our phones and social media, and that on social media everybody tries to make it look like they have the perfect life, but in reality they aren’t like they appear in the pictures online.

This is also shown in the text at (p. 6, l. 8-9) where the girl takes a picture of herself in front of the mirror while she is crying, but in the mirror and on the photo, she is smiling.

There are probably a lot of people that can relate to that theme, and especially young people might be able to relate to the part of becoming a bit addicted to their phones and social media.

Some believe that every time you take a picture you lose a part of your soul, which is also a theme in Selfies.
