Indledning
One of Americas most controversial topics is the discussion about the minimum wage. The min. wage was introduced in 1938 as a solution to make labor fair.

It ensures that the federal min. wage can’t drop below the legal amount so no one is taken advantage of. But with this comes the never-ending discussion on whether it is too low or should be higher.

On one side there are the people who thinks having a higher min. wage is a human right and that the current $7.25 isn’t acceptable.

Genevieve Wood from the heritage foundation is among the part of people who don’t believe in the government stepping in and making everyone raise the min. wage.

They on the other hand believe in companies raising their own minimum wage when they are big enough and therefore can handle it.

This is because small companies have a smaller chance of surviving if they are forced to raise it. She also believes that by doubling the min. wage 7 million lower wage jobs will go away

and simply don’t think that raise some people would get is worth losing those jobs. Speaker from the other side is Chris Lu who thinks the min. wage should be raised.

His argument is that people live in poverty because of the wages being so low, and therefore people can’t handle when a crisis strike their family, because they don’t have money for emergencies where they have to come up with a larger sum of money.
