Indledning
Some people have a bad life. They are sad, depressed and feel much meaninglessness in life. They don’t want to be alone with the problem they are dealing with.
They want someone to talk to and someone to support them. Life isn’t easy and for some it can be very hard. Maybe they are feeling so bad they just need a little push to commit suicide.
We see some of these people and themes in the text “Survivor – chapter 46” by Chuck Palahniuk from 1999. The main character in this text helps people to commit suicide by talking to them in the phone.

The short story has a first-person narrator. We see everything from his perspective and know what he thinks. The narrator is also the protagonist in this text.
He gets these calls from people who are having a hard time. It says in the text that “A guy will call. After I’m fast asleep, it happens.
These calls will come all night if I don’t unplug the phone.” (Page 95, bottom). He is used to get these calls and there are many people calling him every day.
He also does normal, everyday things while talking with these people. In the text it says: “On top of breading a veal cutlet, these people want me to straighten their whole life.” (page 95, top). We don’t know where he is beside the place he is living. Maybe it is an apartment.
