In this short story, we get to see how humans can be quick to shift their behavior and actions, especially when we get put in a situation that demands us to choose between our survival

and helping one another. This conflict gets portrayed well in the short story, Survivor syndrome, written by Liz Jensen in 2011.

He notices every single detail and pays attention to the creativity of the people, and the many ways they are trying to survive while being challenged by hunger, bad hygiene, and sickness.

The behavior of the Londoners seems to fascinate Dimitri. He notices how their attitude changes when death suddenly seems closer to everyone.

As he is describing other people’s mysterious behavior, he quickly becomes aware of the change in his own thoughts and behavior too “I noticed, for example, that although I cared about people less, my aesthetic appreciation of them was becoming keener.
