Indledning
A huge amount of the criminals in this world is badly brought up. Maybe they are raised by an alcoholic mother, a violent father or totally without any love from them.
Studies show that bad experiences, experienced as a child, is one of the main reasons why people are living on the wrong side of the law. Another main reason is peer pressure.
We often see that children with low self-esteem get motivated, to do something bad, by the respect they can earn from children with a higher and more prestigious social class than themselves. These scenarios are to be found in the short story Son of Satan, which was written in 1982.

This tendency to be inhuman can be a result of a tough childhood. One thing that makes us believe this is the case, is that the father hits his son in the end of the story. “There was a blinding flash of light and a blow so hard that I really didn’t feel it.
I was on the floor. I got up.” A violent father is differently a huge part of a potential tough childhood, which, more than likely, can have affected him.
Another thing that makes us believe he is afraid and angry with his father is found on page 44 where the main character says: “You better kill me, I said, because when I get big enough I’m going to kill you!”
This is maybe the best example of the relationship between the father and his son. This shows us how much they hate each other and how much they actually have in common.
