Having established that the story is seen from the narrator’s view, and it is important to know who the narrator actually is. The narrator is 11-yaers old and he is best friend with Morgan and Hass.
Morgan and Hass are older than him, but he is still the leader of the group. The narrator is smoking cigarettes with his friend, though he is only 11 .
He has a lot of pressure on him, and it make him feels like he must be strong and ruthless. The Narrator has to protect and defend has status in his group.
Therefor he does evil things, and don’t back down. Example when they hanged Simpsons, the narrator gets sympathy with Simpsons, but he can show it because it is an act for weakness.
With he also says in the history, “I felt like letting him go. Maybe he hadn’t fucked anybody. Maybe he had just been daydreaming.
But I was the young leader. I couldn’t show any sympathy” The narrator is a round person, because we get to know him, we see everything from his side.
