This is shown in an article in The Guardian, where Poppy Noor talks about how she lives every day facing the unfairness of being underprivileged.
Poppy Noor points out how the lack of knowledge and lack of family wealth gave her fewer choices and forced her to make decisions that did not benefit her.
An example of that is “taking the first job she was offered” , at just above the minimum wage, because she needed money fast. It shows how much harder a person from a lower social class must work if they want to move up in the social classes.
People from working-class backgrounds often tend to do anything for the career they want, and that can sometimes be a disadvantage.
An example of that is taking an unpaid internship , which means having to work another job to be able to cover living expenses.
Not knowing how the system works and how to navigate within it, just goes to show how harsh and ruthless the system is for those coming from the lower social classes.
It is very difficult to move up in the social classes if you come from a poor background, but if a person wants it bad enough, the possibilities to improve one’s life are existing.
