That leads to a huge problem, because some companies have experienced that their ads have been placed next to hateful content, that for an example contains hate speech, racism and more that can harm the company’s image.

1 We can quickly conclude that something isn't quite right, because when a company pays a platform like Facebook to promote their brand, and then appears next to an inappropriate post, something is wrong.

Fortunately, companies are not passively sitting on the sideline and watching. In 2020 companies like Adidas, Ford and a lot more world known brands joined an ad boycott on Facebook, that lasted a whole month.2

But before we blame Facebook and the other medias, we need to remember, that they are working really hard to break down hateful content, and it sometimes can be difficult, when the ads aren’t breaking Facebooks complicated guidelines there still can be some issues, if the content still offence a companies own politics.

Now I’d like to talk about my thoughts about social media, and its influence on the globalization. Starting with the pros.

We live in a world where it has never been easier to communicate with acquaintances as well as unknowns around the whole world, but not just communicate.

We can also learn, inspire, and integrate from cultures all by using social media. Social media has also evolved enormously.

Facebook went from being a place where young and grown-up people sought out to get a respite from everyday stress, to today's platform of companies around the world, who have moved their aggressive marketing from the real world to the digital platforms3 , a huge trading market with recycled clothing and IT equipment, and influencers and streamers who make a living from entertaining on various medias.
