I reckon that the majority in this audience, own one or more social media accounts. I am also quite confident that, a lot of you are on Facebook.

Facebook is the largest social media platform, in the world. Facebook is a fantastic platform, for reading and sharing news, events, and funny videos.

Furthermore, Facebook can be used to gain attention to important subjects. However, Facebook is also a very easy passage for users, to promote hate, violence, and racism.

And not only is it easy to promote hate speech, but those posts are also profitable for Facebook. This might sound crazy for you, so let me give you an example:

If a person or a page posts a hateful picture or video, then beside the picture, there will be placed some so-called “Sponsors”.

These sponsors are companies, Airbnb for instance, that have paid money to Facebook, to be promoted on their website.

So basically, Airbnb now seems to be promoting hate speech, towards other races. This is a huge problem, not only that companies seems to promote hate speech, but also that this hate speech occurs, on the largest social media platform.
