Indledning
Good afternoon to students, and my competitors. My name is Nikolai Herse to those who do not know me, and I have been looking forward to being a part of the debate today.

I find todays topic very socially relevant for me as a young student myself, which is the reason why I have chosen to attend the debate. Us young people have the whole world in front of us and I want our future to be bright.

To begin I can easily say that it is no secret that many families live in poverty in the UK. In 2017, 1,5 million people have less than 10 pounds a day after they paid for housing costs

which is clearly a problem, therefore the government had to act, when they look at a number that big.

When the government do not act, is that a signal for they do no not care or are comfortable with the society we have become?

Instead of helping the poor people, the government says that they have no choice, but cut public spending.

Childhood poverty is some of the most devasting and heartbreaking things, I have come across. In areas of Manchester and Liverpool is almost 50% of children growing up in poverty.

Children arrive to school hungry. In the UK reports many poor families increasing hunger. UK is the fifth largest economy in the world with 39 percent of GDP

which shows us that the government have the resources to act and help the poor families or at least the poor children. Do the government even try to avoid the rising hunger?
