The short story Karma by Khushwant Singh was written in 1950 by himself, 1950 marks the year 3 of India’s independence.

The story refers to some very important aspects of Indian society during the time that Britain was the major rule in India.

When Britain ruled over India, they were determined to be one of the biggest empires in the world and the Indians were very underprivileged.

The main character and our antagonist in the story is Sir Mohan Lal, he is a native Indian who thinks he’s British and is ashamed of the Indian culture.

Throughout the story we hear about how he creates a new Indian culture. The way we can profile Sir Mohan Lal as the antagonist is by feeling sorry for him because he obviously seems confused about his identity but he is also portrayed as the protagonist through the things he says in the story.

Karm a is short story that is about how men and women in India acts towards each other and how the culture segregates them further from each other.

The main character Lachmi is the traditional Indian woman, he wants to integrate her into his own culture.
