The United States has a lot of influence on the world today, but the journey was not easy. Some of the problems they had in the beginning are still relevant today. But why is it that the U.S is so powerful today and how did it all start?
In 1917 the United states joined World War I after Germany attacked and a year later the war stopped.
After the war the women got the rights to vote in 1920, and nine years later, in 1929, the states went into the Great Depression. Businesses and factories were shut down.
Farms and banks suffered and almost 20 % of the population had no jobs. President Roosevelt made the New Deal that included programs to help get the stats on their feet gain.
