Growth strategy is the long-term planning that is to make sure that the company will fulfill its growth goals. They can grow through organic growth or growth by integration. To assess the future opportunities for growth for Hello Fresh in Denmark I will take a look at the Ansoff’s Matrix (see supplement2).
Product development:
For Hello Fresh in Denmark, I will argue that product development must be a focus area when they look at their growth strategy. At the moment the company offers four different meal kits such as classic, family-friendly, vegetarian, and a quick kit.
A way of achieving growth by product development could be by product line extension. Bu making even more kinds of meal kits the company would meet an even broader target group.
Another option could be renewing already existing products. Hello fresh went from offering a very limited choice of recipes to offering more when they opened up the market in Denmark.
They can renew their product by increasing the choice and personalization. A way for them to do that is by increasing the relevance and variety of menus for each meal kit.
Market development:
Another opportunity for growth for Hello Fresh is to develop its existing products into new markets. A way for them to do that is by selling their products to new, different segments. Right now, Hello fresh mainly focusses on selling to families.
When you buy a meal kit, you can choose a kit for two or four people. A new segment they could focus on could be young single students, who need a cheap and simple way to do grocery shopping. If studying comes before cooking, what would be nicer, than to have quick recipes and ingredients delivered at your doorstep? Or they could even sell to even bigger families consisting of more than four people.
If Hello Fresh focuses on the opportunities for market development and product development, they will experience future growth in Denmark.
