What if you were told that you could save lives, by giving up your guns. Would you, do it?
A lot of people wouldn’t risk giving up their guns, because how should they protect themselves and their families.
But what is there to protect yourself from, if everyone gave up their guns, then it would be illegal to own guns. Then the police could do their job, and you could go back to your normal life.

Laure writes to them as if it was children he was talking to. This makes him believe that he is above them, and that hey should try and see everything from his perspective. In the article he tries to convince the audience, by repeating things several times.
As an example we see in the beginning. “You really can’t try to tell me that”, “Surely you don’t expect” and “I doubt you think”.
By reading this, it becomes hard as a reader to have another opinion than Laure’s opinion. As a reader it may result in, that they feel oppressed not to look stupid, by having a different opinion.
Throughout the text he is using a lot of negative references towards the audience, and this can result in the audience feeling like their opinion is preposterous, and that the opposing side to gun control shouldn’t have to say in the matter.
