Hello ladys and gentlemen, welcome to this conference. My name is Mads Frederik Brøchner Jensen and I represent The National Retail Federation. I have been asked to give a speech about development of retailing in the post-World War II.
In my speech I will start talking about the history of retailing in the post-World War II period. Then I will talk about the development of retailing and lastly, I will look into the future.

Its said that there are 26 kvm physical store pr inhabitant in USA and only 2,5 kvm store pr inhabitant in Europa. A rising amount of Americans have lost there need to visit these physical shops.
All these virtual companies have taken over and made it a lot easier for the customers to buy everything online.
Young Americans look at the malls on an very outdated way and that mall is there parents and not theres.
But not all malls fail some of them has found success by doing the things malls are best at, getting people out and sopping and spending time with theyre family or friends.
There are about 1.100 malls in USA today. But a quarter of them risk to get shut down in the next 5 years and some people say that the amount of malls closing Is higher.
In 1956 Southdale shopping center in Edina were invented and that was the first mall ever built and still stands today. In 2020 the malls are trying so hard to make some kind of comeback and find new ways to get people trough the door.
