This is of course not always the case. In some places where there are not as many people as in the bigger towns such as Manchester and London, you can easily have a peaceful and nice experience.
Even though the retailers give a lot of discount on the goods, they still make a profit out of it, as they create a lot of sales.
The reason for all the chaos is basically just greed. People don't think of anything but themselves when it comes to material things.
According to Hofstede’s Comparison of Cultures, the British people have a very big number in individualism which means they have a big tendency to be selfish and self-centred.
They will do anything in their power to get the things they want, even though it may start a fight or end up hurting others. So in the end, the reason for all the chaos and craziness is greed and individualism.
