Indledning
When it comes to addressing America's tragic situation and ongoing issues, it can be difficult to come up with an appropriate speech. In this case, understanding the benefits of the style of writing as well as knowing how to use inclusive language will be beneficial.
The focus of Joe Biden's inaugural address, held on January 20, 2021, is on the issues in America, such as climate change, racial injustice, Covid-19, and the failing economy.
He stands in front of a range of problems and is therefore encouraging Americans to unite and work together to solve them.

Biden is also using figurative language in the form of a metaphor when talking about what he wants for the nation: “We can join forces, stop the shouting, and lower the temperature.”
(Page 52, line 79 Joe Biden - Inaugural Address). In this context, the phrase “lower the temperature” refers to the state that America is currently in. Biden tries to convey that people should calm down
and that disagreements are not always a bad thing. In contrast to this, he uses another metaphor later where he describes politics as a raging fire. He means that politics can be dangerous and lead to many complications, just like a raging fire.
