Indledning
The story ”The sentry” is written by Téa Obreth and it’s a short story about a 10-year-old kid named Bojan and his sentry mastiff named Kaiser.
It was Bojans father who was assigned to the sentry mastiff, so it came to live with him and his family, when Bojan turned 10 years old.
Before the dog’s arrival, the 10-year-old Bojan was very excited to welcome a new kind family dog into the family. But it was not how it turned out to be.
Kaiser was a very big dog and nothing like how he imagined “The dog was much larger than he expected (….) with a broad skull, wide feet, and a squashed painted black face” Bojan then realized that it was not going to be the way he wanted.

Bojan is already challenged in school. He gets bullied by some boys he had grown up with. Bojan is a very shy boy, sensitive and plays the piano.
He’s much different from the other boys at school, and the boys probably can’t accept that and then bullies him. “….and they knocked him down in the soft mud and pushed his face into the daisies” Bojan is not just struggling with his own father at home but also the boys at school.
The other boys at school can be the reason that Bojan search for acceptance at home. But unfortunately, because he can’t get theany acceptance at school.
