Indledning
“Wild” is an extract from the autobiographical book “Wild. A journey from lost to found” written by Cheryl Strayed and published by Atlantic in 2012.

The extract throws us into the storyline without any informational gifts. Therefore, we are clueless and simultaneously intrigued by this mystery plot.

The overall structure of the story is chronologically, but with a portion of flashbacks to add depth to reasoning of her action and gives us readers a profound knowledge of Cheryl and her journey.

Uddrag
This is also a symbolical gesture for Cheryl as it exemplifies her taking a risk and trying to find herself by walking the “Pasific Crest Trail” (line 30) alone.

Without her shoes or burdens of everyday life, Cheryl is free and unreservedly puts her trust into Mother Nature to find Cheryl again.

Cheryl is a sadden soul and expresses this clearly in her thought process. “Each day I felt as if I were looking up from the bottom of a well.” (line 51). Cheryl’s use of pathos makes us readers sympathies with the depressive Cheryl and in a way, she upset us too.
