As briefly mentioned before, the consequences can be divided into three categories: economy, identity and social.

There is no doubt that the consequences will have the greatest impact on young people, compared to older adults.

According to economists, a crisis will affect the young and low-educated, which has also been experienced in the past.

’Following the crisis in 2008, youth unemployment rose to 22% in the UK. Nearly a decade later, youth unemployment is still 11.9%’’ (p. 1, l. 20-22).

Besides that, young people will not have the same opportunities anymore. Brexit sets limits on what they can experience.

For instance, they cannot study or work in European countries. This also means, it will be harder to live in multicultural communities and to meet new friends or colleagues.

Furthermore, if Brexit happens many young people and parents will have to choose their identity.

It will not be possible to be both British and European. This can result in splitting multicultural families, who have spent their whole life in Britain.

On top of that, the video ‘’Opposition to Brexit is growing in the UK’’ had a similar negative viewpoint concerning Brexit.

According to Madeleina Kay, who is a Pro-EU activist, Brexit is a very bad idea. Young people and Pro-EU activists demonstrate in front of the parliament and make some noise (0:00 - 0:25).

Young people connect the EU with values such as love, peace, and tolerance. Moreover, they think the future of their country is in danger (0:30 - 0:45). The country is divided; it is the older generation that is in favor of Brexit (01:30 - 01:45).
